Ichiro was thrown out for the first time in his nearly nine-year career after disputing a called third strike. It was just the second hitless effort in 14 contests for the ML’s second-leading batsman. His .353 batting average is topped only by Joe Mauer’s .370 mark. Bill Hall switched from left to right field to cover for Ichiro while Michael Saunders came into the game in left field.

Ichiro Suzuki knocked three hits on Saturday as the Mariners beat the Twins 2-1. Ichiro went 3-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI in the game.

Our View: Ichiro is still a hitting machine, but that should come as no surprise to anyone. His run total leaves a bit to be desired, but there’s nothing he can do about that. He is hitting .354 on the year, so he remains a solid fantasy outfielder.

News: Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki extended his hitting streak to 24 games with four hits including a home run on Sunday in a 9-8 loss to the Angels. Suzuki’s hitting streak is the longest in the majors at the moment, and one game shy of the franchise record he set in 2007. The homer was Ichiro’s fifth of the season.

Ichiro Suzuki went 7-for-10 in an intrasquad league game in extended spring training. The veteran didn’t take any spots in the field. He will likely remain with the minor league squad through the weekend before returning to the roster Monday

Jim Street, of MLB.com, reports the results of Seattle Mariners OF Ichiro Suzuki’s (stomach) blood test were encouraging Wednesday, April 8. As a result, he will see some action in an extended Spring Training game Thursday, April 9. Suzuki will receive at least four at-bats in the game Thursday and he could receive up to 10 at-bats during his rehab assignment. Manager Don Wakamatsu said Suzuki took 75 pitches during batting practice Wednesday and hit 20 home runs.

News: Seattle Mariners star Ichiro Suzuki has been cleared to begin playing in his comeback from a bleeding ulcer that caused severe fatigue. Suzuki will be the designated hitter in an extended spring training game with minor leaguers in Arizona on Thursday. Manager Don Wakamatsu said before Wednesday’s game at Minnesota that Suzuki will play a total of three games before being re-evaluated. He’ll either join the Mariners in Oakland this weekend or travel straight to Seattle.

Ichiro Suzuki will be placed on the 15-day DL due to a bleeding ulcer, according to MLB.com. He was examined by doctors as he was suffering from severe fatigue.

Our View: The move is retroactive to March 31, and he will miss the first eight games of the season. He is eligible to return April 15.
