Multiple reports say that Billy Cundiff has won the right to be the Ravens’ kicker to start the season. He beat out veteran leg Shayne Graham for the job. Graham joined the team this offseason to compete with Cundiff, but has lost. There was speculation that Graham might rejoin the Bengals, but their official website said that wasn’t likely to happen.

SAN ANTONIO — David Buehler went four-for-six on Monday on field goal attempts and this summer he’s 20-for-24.

Buehler made field goals of 30, 38, 48 and 50 yards. He was wide-right on a 44-yarder and wide-left from 53-yards.

When the Cowboys missed a NFL-high 11 field goal attempts last season, it forced Jerry Jones to find a replacement. If Buehler struggles, don’t be surprised to see the Cowboys find a veteran to replace him. Buehler, who is also the kickoff specialist, isn’t losing his roster spot. But the Cowboys don’t want to use two roster spots on kickers. They did last season.

News: The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with free agent punter and kicker Ricky Schmitt. The 6-foot-3 Schmitt debuted in the NFL in 2009, kicking for San Francisco on Dec. 27 against Detroit. He had two field goals on three attempts with five kickoffs. But he hurt a hamstring and went on injured reserve the last week of the season. The 24-year-old Schmitt also has been with Pittsburgh, Oakland and originally joined Arizona as a rookie free agent in 2007.

News: A Pennsylvania judge has dismissed two charges against Steelers kicker href=”http://www.fantasysp.com/nfl_player_news/Jeff_Reed/”>Jeff Reed and postponed a decision on two offenses stemming from a scuffle with police outside a bar. The judge in Pittsburgh on Monday threw out charges of simple assault and resisting arrest against Reed related to an Oct. 18 conflict near Heinz Field. Police say Reed took a “fighting stance” when officers arrived to cite Reed’s teammate, backup tight end href=”http://www.fantasysp.com/nfl_player_news/Matt_Spaeth/”>Matt Spaeth, for disorderly conduct for allegedly urinating in a parking lot. Reed is also charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Reed is currently the Steelers’ franchised free agent.

News: The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed the franchise tag on kicker Jeff Reed. He will receive a tender for the average salary of the top five kickers in the NFL – $2.8 million – or a 20 percent salary increase, whichever is higher. Reed, an eight-year veteran, made 27 of 31 field goal attempts last season.
