Quick analysis after the Boston Celtics selected Texas freshman Avery Bradley with the No. 19 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft:

The Celtics couldn’t have asked for the draft to play out much better and, with their choice among the second tier of shooting guards, the team selected the best player available player in Bradley.

It’s a safe selection. If Bradley pans out like many believe, he’s the explosive scorer the team covets off the bench. Even if he takes time to develop, Bradley can play the point guard spot and provides a much-needed backup behind Rajon Rondo. What’s more, he’s a lockdown defender that will immediately ingratiate himself in Boston’s defense-first system.

Eric Freeman, The Baseline: the Lakers ramped up the defensive pressure toward the end of the third quarter and into the final quarter to get back into the game. It was a top-level performance from a team that hasn’t always been praised for their toughness. Ron Artest(notes) did a nice job on Pierce; Kobe Bryant(notes) and Derek Fisher(notes) frustrated Ray Allen(notes) into 3-of-14 shooting; and the rest of the roster at least brought impressive energy. It was a team effort through and through. They needed every bit of it, too, because the offense never quite got on track. Bryant finished with a game-high 23 points (with 15 rebounds, too), but he shot only 6-of-24 from the floor and missed four key free throws. Pau Gasol(notes) also had trouble getting things right with 19 points on poor 6-of-16 shooting and was only 7-of-13 from the line, although he grabbed 18 huge rebounds (including nine offensive). As odd as it sounds, Ron Artest was the team’s most efficient offensive player, getting 20 points on 7-of-18 FG with a number of huge baskets. For the night, the Lakers shot only 32.5 percent, the worst mark for a winning team in the Finals in the shot clock era. When it mattered most, though, the Lakers made the plays necessary to win. Bryant, Gasol, and even Sasha Vujacic(notes) hit key free throws in crunch time to get the win. Boston fans might complain about L.A.’s 21 free throws in the fourth quarter, but the fact of the matter is the Celtics were fouling a lot throughout the game without it getting called, and it’s not as if all of those calls were cheapies. The Lakers fought to get those foul shots, and they converted enough to get the job done.&quot

Ray Allen scored 32 points, including an NBA finals record eight three-pointers, in Boston’s 103-94 Game 2 win over the Lakers on Sunday night.

Our View: Allen was instrumental in the Celtics’ evening of the series at 1-1. Rajon Rondo was solid as he has been all throughout the playoffs, but with both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce playing poorly and combining for just 16 points, Allen couldn’t have picked a better time for the record-breaking night.

The AP reports that Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife “has filed suit against his actress girlfriend Gabrielle Union, saying their relationship has caused the star Miami Heat guard’s two sons emotional distress.” His sons are 8 and 2 years old and are listed as plaintiffs in the case.

Our View: Wade’s ex-wife, Siohvaughn, has been a nagging ailment going on three years. She was brutal throughout their divorce and is clearly back for more. If the suit is sped through court, it could be that Wade is unemployed (free agent) when it is heard.
