The Philadelphia Phillies placed OF Shane Victorino (abdominal) on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, July 28, with an abdominal strain, according to ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick. In a related move, the team recalled OF Domonic Brown from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Craig Calcaterra, of NBCSports.com, reports the Philadelphia Phillies have re-signed OF Shane Victorino to a three-year deal worth $22 million, according to a source. The team could announce the deal as early as Friday, Jan. 22. The deal would buy out one of Victorinoa€™s free agent years.

Shane Victorino’s left knee is “very very sore” and the star centerfielder is unsure of whether or not he will play tonight in San Francisco, according to The Wilmington Journal.

This is a huge day, but pretty well in keeping with Victorino’s brilliant showing during his ongoing seven-game hitting streak. Victorino has notched multi-hit efforts in each of his last four games and is hitting a scalding .467 (14-for-30) during that tear. Saturday’s steal was Victorino’s first stolen base in 12 games, but it’s hard to grouse about that considering his .386-2-12 line in July.
